National Nutrition Month®, held annually in March is a nutrition education and information campaign sponsored annually by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics which helps focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and exercise habits. The campaign became a month-long observance back in 1980 when the public interest in nutrition began to grow.

The American Heart Association (AHA), the nation's oldest and largest voluntary organization is celebrating 100 years in 2024 as an organization to bring awareness and progress in the fight against heart disease. Despite a century of educating the American public about the risk and seriousness of this silent killer, more than half of Americans are still unaware that Cardiovascular Disease is the #1 cause of death in the United States (Harris Poll Survey, Nov. 2023).

We have all heard the saying that "breakfast is the most important meal of the day." Growing up most of us were hurried out the door to go to school, but not before we ate a good breakfast. But now as adults are we taking the time to eat anything in the mornings, let alone a balanced breakfast that will help fuel us for the rest of the long day ahead?  The sad reality is probably not.

October has become a month synonymous with Breast Cancer Awareness and seeing the pink ribbon on sports jerseys and events both locally and nationally to raise awareness in our country.  Breast cancer is not solely a woman’s disease. Men too, can get diagnosed with breast cancer. According to the American Cancer Society,1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
