Healthy eating & physical activity during National Nutrition Month®

National Nutrition Month®, held annually in March is a nutrition education and information campaign sponsored annually by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics which helps focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and exercise habits. The campaign became a month-long observance back in 1980 when the public interest in nutrition began to grow. Since then the importance of transparency and truth in labeling on our foods has become a top priority so that consumers are able to see what is in the foods they are buying and make an informed choice. Food labeling is especially important for people who follow certain dietary guidelines for chronic disease management such as celiac disease or diabetes, or for those who have allergies that can be life-threatening.  Getting sufficient vitamins and minerals is hard to do with they busy lifestyles and how the majority of Americans eat today. Health supplements in capsule, drink, liquid, or meal replacement form offer a wide variety of ways that consumers can fill in their nutritional gaps to maintain optimal health. Get involved this month with these 50 ideas on how to celebrate at your office, at home or at school: https://sm.eatright.org/nnm50ideas
